Nahal Tzofim
Reserve

Tucked away on the edge of the city, and right outside HaNachal's doorstep, Nahal Tzofim Reserve is a 600-duman (148-acre) expanse of rolling hills, shaded pathways and trails, and lush greenery.

Here, native trees line the trails, soft breezes move through open meadows, and the hum of the city fades into the distance.

A walk or bike ride through the reserve reveals a different side of the holy city-one shaped by nature, where the seasons unfold in golden light and fresh air.

It’s a place to slow down, to breathe deeply, and to feel connected to the beauty of our land in its most natural form.

Nahal Tzofim Reserve plays host to a diverse and beautiful wildlife population. Visitors often chance upon deer, mountain gazelles, and fluffy rock hyraxes. From the treetops, kestrels, sunbirds, and owls flit and chirp.

A gentle creek runs throughout the reserve, trickling past ancient caves, rocks and greenery.

Mediterranean trees such as oak, terebinth, and carob flourish here, while spring brings colorful anemones and cyclamens.

Playgrounds, climbing equipment, and picnic grounds dot the reserve, making it the perfect place for leisurely mornings and afternoons.

Nahal Tzofim's bike trail runs throughout the reserve, past Hanachal, and then links up with The Jerusalem Ring, a breathtaking green-lined bike path that circles the city of Jerusalem.

Like all of Israel, there’s a rich history to explore around every corner.

These include the remnants of an ancient road, hewn caves, and water pits that have been preserved, together with burial caves from the Second Temple period. Artifacts such as threshing-stones and cisterns are discoverable along the creek's path.
